If you are reading this book then you are probably quite clever. And if you are quite clever then you probably think that you know quite a lot. But let me warn you, this book is very powerful, especially in the right hands. Maybe the right hands could be your hands? Proceed with caution as this will blow the cover off what you thought you knew. Hold tight to the book and when you get to the end you will find a new beginning. Once upon a day, there comes a time when you are given the chance to take a fantastic flight of discovery into a true and lasting friendship. That day has arrived.
Our ordinary feathered friends were each faced with this very same choice. Which group were they to join and which path were they to follow as they made their swift fowl swoop to the Camp of Life? Having spent their early chirpy days in the comforts of their home nest, these six birds had applied to the Camp of Life Academy, to spend time away from their familiar safety nest. Each bird was eager to face the challenge to follow their heart in preparation for a life with the high flyers. The following weeks would determine their flight path. Would it be upwards towards Blazing Glory or would they crash land and remain grounded having followed the crowd on the path of tricks and treats?
It was the first day for the new intake at the Camp of Life. The sun beamed brightly across the clear blue sky, welcoming the students. One by one, each bird would make its fowl swoop into the academy. They were to be greeted by the Master. He would be in charge of our young fledglings. With eyes sharp and piercing, burning with the fire of Blazing Glory, the Master waited expectantly for the chosen few.
The first to be tossed from his family nest to make his journey to the Camp of Life was Oscar the young eagle. Soaring high on the thermals, he thought he would spend some eagle time alone and ride high above the campsite. As a learned bird, a high flyer for his age, Oscar decided that it would be wise to explore how the land lay and discover some of its secret sites. Oscar soared like a champion, alone and yet supported by the safe and strong currents swirling around the skies. He wanted to be the first to catch a glimpse of Blazing Glory itself. All Oscar had ever heard about it was that it was a mysterious place, bright and beautiful beyond all our imagination.
Meanwhile, Melody the songbird had been tossed from the great height of her family nest. Their nest had become overcrowded since the new arrival of her baby brother. Melody was unusually young to attend the Camp of Life, however, it was her mother's only option. Melody knew about the stories of Blazing Glory, and from an early age longed to discover more of this enduring, everlasting city. Despite this amazing adventure on the horizon, Melody felt a little sad. Blinking back the tears at leaving her family behind, Melody swallowed hard and did the only thing she knew how to do: she burst into the song 'All things bright and beautiful', her favourite school hymn. What started as a harmonic song of praise soon became a squawking cry as she quickly remembered her fear of heights! Melody made it as far as the words 'all creatures great and small' and then began plummeting rapidly to the ground.
